Taxi Insurance Cover

When you begin shopping for taxi insurance, you will need to choose a policy that offers the cover that you need. If you do not have proper cover, then you could face a great deal of expense should you be involved in a crash. However, do you know what type of taxi insurance cover what you need? Here are the types of cover that you will want to consider.

Of course, there would be crash cover. This type of insurance policy would cover the cost of damage to your vehicle and to the other vehicle if the crash is your fault. This type of cover should be considered absolutely vital to your taxi insurance policy.

The next thing you may want to consider is public liability cover. This type of cover will take care of the expense of injury to any passengers of the taxi car. If you have passengers when you are in a crash, then they could be injured. If they are injured, then they will need to make a claim against your insurance to cover their expenses. If you want to avoid a suit against you, then you will need to choose to pay for public liability taxi insurance cover.

Taxi Breakdown Cover

An option that you may want to consider would be breakdown cover. This would not necessarily be a must have for your taxi insurance, but it would be an option that could save you money. If your taxi car were to breakdown, then you could find yourself with a great deal of expense that would come from your pocket and you may have to wait a while before you have your taxi repaired. That would equal even more money that you would lose. If you want to avoid this, then you will want to consider breakdown cover from the taxi insurance companies that you are choosing from.

Taxi Insurance quotes

Taxi insurance is extremely important when you have a taxi car. However, you need to make sure that you choose just the right taxi insurance covers. There are different options that you could choose, so make sure you choose the right ones.

Does Your Taxi Insurance Provide a Replacement Vehicle?

Owning a taxi means you must be prepared for things to happen. Of course, you never want to imagine that you could be in a crash. However, it is a possibility when your taxi is on the streets for hours every day. You cannot ignore the possibility that you may be involved in a crash. You do need to have a plan prepared in case this happens. Of course, you must have taxi insurance, but you also need to make sure that you have chosen a taxi car insurance company that provides the right benefits.

For example, what would you do if you are in a crash? If your taxi is your source of income, then you could be out of a job until that taxi is repaired. This is most certainly not something that you will want to happen. Do you have options though? It all depends on the coverage offered by the taxi insurance company that you choose. Different taxi insurance companies offer different coverages, so this is something that you will want to check on.

Taxi Insurance Policy

The best thing to do would be to choose taxi insurance that will offer you a replacement vehicle during the time it takes for your taxi car to be repaired. However, it is important that the insurance company that you choose provides proper taxi insurance. That means that the replacement vehicle that they provide you with would be a licenced taxi. If it is not a licenced taxi cab, then you will not be able to continue to provide transportation to passengers. Then, you would still be out of a job until your vehicle is repaired.

When you are looking for taxi insurance, then your first reaction may be to look for cheap taxi insurance, and there is certainly nothing wrong with trying to save money. However, if you choose a policy that does not provide a replacement licenced vehicle in the event of an accident, then you could end up losing much more money than it would have cost you to get the better policy and coverage for your taxi.

Choosing a Taxi Insurance that Provides Windscreen Cover

There are many things that you will need to consider when you are choosing taxi insurance. You will need to make sure that you choose the right options so that you will be sufficiently covered. Various taxi insurance companies will offer various coverages, so make sure you take the time to search around before you decide on a coverage.

Of course, one of your concerns may be that of cost. You may want to look for cheap taxi insurance. Cost can be very high and you may not have the funds to pay for something very expensive. However, when you are considering cheap taxi insurance, be sure to keep in mind that you still need to choose quality coverage. Do not sacrifice quality for cost.

You will also need to consider the things that will be covered by your taxi insurance. Some policies will not cover all of the things that could happen to your taxi. For example, you would want to consider a coverage that would provide for windscreen damage. Consider the one part of your taxi car that is most likely to take damage. There are so many ways that your windscreen could get damaged, and you do not even have to be involved in a crash to suffer the damage to it. However, many different taxi insurance companies will not pay for windscreen repair or replacement.

When you are considering your option for taxi insurance, then you may need to consider that windscreen coverage is actually an option that you will need to add on to your policy. Not all insurance companies even offer it and some require that you pay a little extra to include it as an addition to your regular taxi insurance policy.

When you need to choose taxi insurance, then there are things that you will need to consider. Of course, cost can matter and you may want to consider your cheap taxi insurance options. However, you will also want to make sure all of the important parts of the vehicle are covered in your taxi car insurance. Be sure to look for windscreen coverage since it can matter a great deal.
Replacement windscreens can cost hundreds of pounds and the time spent off the road while it is repaired will also cost you money.
With windscreen cover you are normaly only liable for the excess charge, which can be as low as £25.00

You can get quotes from several taxi insurance companys by visiting the taxi insurance page on this website and filling in the simple form.
It will save you a lot of time phoning round insurance company's and probably save you some money too.

If your not using a Taxi CCTV System in your cab you could be leaving your self open to all sorts of trouble.

Taxi CCTV can protect customers as well as drivers alike but most taxi drivers dont know that just having CCTV stickers in your cabs windows can prevent a lot of trouble because punters think you may have a concealed camara in the taxi

But to put belt and braces on it you need a good Taxi CCTV System

There are 2 types to choose from

Image Capture

Video Capture

Image Capture systems work by taking snap shots of the inside/outside of the taxi at regular intervals.
Most have a trigger system linked to the doors on the cab.
When a customer gets in or out, pictures are taken, the images are time and date stamped and stored in a remote storage device normaly mounted in the boot of the car.
The information is stored on a SD memory card which can be removed and used as evidence by the police should they need it.
Most of these systems have infrared capable camaras so they can be used at night and some even record audio at the same time as taking pictures.

Video Capture sytemswork in much the same way as the image capture, but take high resolution video in either short bursts when customers get in or out of the cab, or contantly recording so everything is recorded during a drivers shift.
This is the prefered method of recording for most drivers as they can record incedents like road accidents and threats to drivers during the journey.

This evidence could mean the difference between fare jumpers getting away with it, or being prosecuted.
But the main bennefit is that most opportunists will be put off by the fact you have their face on record.

Fast Becoming an essential piece of kit my favorite taxi camera is the CarCam BB1

It makes constant high resolution video recordings of what goes on inside and outside and around a vehicle which may later be viewed for surveillance purposes or used as evidence in a subsequent investigation.
It's fitted with a GPS positioning unit and can record speed, time and date as well as location using the GPS locator.
Its also very easy to fit as it comes with a suction cup that sticks it to the windscreen of your cab making it very visable, this in turn acts as a visual deterent to unruly customers.

I have several friends in the armed forces and my Little Bro is in the Navy.

Sadly I know just how hard it is for the poor chaps who are injured whilst serving in our armed forces and what a dramatic effect it can have on their friends and family.

Thats why when I saw this offer for a comemorative coin in aid of "Help For Heroes" I didn't hesitate to pay my £1.00

Its a win win really, the coin is worth £29.99 as it is and the whole £1.00 paid for it goes straight to "Help For Heroes"

The cock-up means you should be able to buy one of the £189 satnavs if you're quick, making an ideal present for a Top Gear fan. The bad news for existing TomTom owners is that Clarkson's voice won't be available to download as a novelty voice.

It also means that the special tom toms will become instant collectors items.

BBC Worldwide – the commercial arm which struck the original deal to get Jeremy Clarkson's voice on TomTom's Go Live 820 – has been told by the BBC's policy advisers that the presenter isn't allowed to endorse any car-related products.

The satnav features startup and shutdown screens featuring The Stig, plus sarcastic guidance from Clarkson, including lines such as "Right, we're off. You're relying on me for directions, and I'm relying on you to listen. Do not disappoint me". The device also has a Stig mode, which remains silent.

The BBC's solution to the blunder is to ensure that profit made from the deal will go to BBC Children in Need instead of Worldwide. TomTom will also give a charitable donation.

I have just found a great list of tips for maximising takings as a self employed taxi driver

One of the posts had a lot of good stuff.

This is it .

Its probably a bit small to read on here but the website is metafilter.com here is a link to the page that has the conversation on it.

I love the comment about using his iPod to maximise his tips, its really good advice.
I have several preset radio stations in my cab when I'm working and a few good CD's.

The right music makes people happy and much more generous,

On the flip side the wrong music or even the wrong volume can really iritate a customer.

Tips can make a bad shift worth while and a good shift exceptional, so focus on your customers and make sure they are enjoying the service you are giving them.
Get out and open the door, have an umbrella handy when its raining, carry there shopping to their door.
It all helps.

I'm opening this post up for comments, so please feel free to add some tips of your own.

Websites For Businesses Who Don't Have Time For Websites

You probably know the importance of your business having a presence on the internet.
You may have heard or read about the buzz surrounding the new local search initiatives on the part of Google and other major search engines.
Maybe you already know that 73% of all searches are somehow related to local searches and that 51% of people who search for product information characterize themselves as a shop online/purchase offline customer.

In the service industry like Taxis and takaways new features like click to call make "online search / offline purchase" so much easier for customers but business's are being very slow to spot the bennefits.

If you are quick to get into this sort of marketing for your business you can secure your place at the top.

There's a huge hungry crowd of customers out there. But you just don't have the time or resources to put up an efficient, effective website. Youre too busy doing what you do best, running your business.

Maybe you've done a few things like signing up with some directories. Maybe your industry has a directory service as well. You get your name and contact info out there along with millions of others. But have you ever received a lead or a sale from those efforts? Would you even know if you did?

Thats The Challenge

Marketing is a vital part of any business. You can have the Chinese takaway, Pizza shop or be the best Taxi Company in town but if nobody knows you exist it just doesn't matter does it?
That's why you spend money on the yellow pages, on business cards and local advertising.

But websites are different aren't they.
With the yellow pages you call your account representative, work out an ad, pay the bill and it's done.
You don't need special skills.
But a website?
A taxi website takes technical skills and knowledge of search engine optimization so it can be found.
Specifically local search engine optimization so it can be found by local people who are potential customers or clients.

You simply don't have the time for that which means you'd have to pay big bucks to outsource the job right?

Wrong!!!

The Solution

Actually there is no one answer to that question.

1&1 internet have recently launched a great online web package that takes all the hard work out of creating business websites

YOu have probably seen the advert on TV recently

Or you could learn a new skill
There is a remarkably functional, flexible and user friendly free website software called WordPress. It is an open source platform available to everyone and millions have used it for their blogs and small businesses. The only costs associated with it are the purchase of a domain name (£10) and a hosting service (£10 a month).

WordPress websites are loved by Google because they are structured in a way that makes it easy for the Google spiders to crawl. It's loaded with automatic features that even let the search engines know immediately when you update the site with new content.

The taxi-licence.co.uk website is made using wordpress, but it does take a while to learn how to use all the functions, so unless you are a super geek, go for the option listed above and get your site up fast

The design and the structure of a blog is not ideal for either the professional look of your business or, more importantly, local search.

There is a solution though that is effective both in terms of ranking in the search engines and low maintenance. The SmallBiz WordPress Theme provides a professional business theme and design that can quickly get you in front of local customers and do it with a minimum amount of time required by you. You can have an effective presence on the web without digging into the time you need to run the business. That of course does not count the time you spend responding to customer requests that are generated by the site.

If you want to take advantage of the enormous marketing power of local search, visit check it out today and at least investigate the possibilities of a search optimized website for your business.

Since it has been made illegal for taxi drivers to smoke inside of their cars many cab drivers feel like they are being forced out of their own private space just to enjoy a quick cigarette.

E-lites – Electronic Cigarettes might just hold the answer to this little dilema.

The clever little device uses a water vapour as a substitute for cigarette smoke and looks and feels just like smoking a real cigarette.

It produces no smell or harmfull gas that can be found in regular cigarettes and is much safer for the person using it and for the people around them.

If your fed up with having to get out of your taxi for a smoke in the cold and rain, then you should have a look at what they have to offer.

Converting to LPG.
Whats all the fuss about.

“Carbon footprints, Electric Vehicles, Hydrogen Fuel Cells, CO2, NOX, Benzenes, and Particulates” just what are the environmentalists/local authority air quality people/licensing authorities talking about. And how can I ever reduce my Taxi’s running costs?

Well it’s all a question of priorities. The ‘Greens’ want electric and hydrogen fuelled vehicles right now, the trouble is they are just not practical at the present, and nor are likely to be within the next 5-10 years. It’s the infrastructure you see.

When there is a hydrogen filling station every few miles, that is not subsidised by millions in grant support, then we might have an infrastructure. And when battery power allows you to re-charge in 5 minutes tops, then we will have an infrastructure. But both those are a long way off, decades maybe.

Right now there are ‘alternative’ inexpensive fuels out there and there is already the infrastructure of filling stations, where you could be filling up for around 68p per litre inc VAT. Also, our partners can install a re-fuelling station right now for those wanting their own tanks and you could be filling up at around 52p per litre excluding VAT. This fuel is called LPG. Its big in Europe, 7 million vehicles use it already. But in the UK we only have 155,000 and increasing daily. The EU has made the suggestion that by 2020 that 20% of all vehicles run on a fuel other than petrol or diesel. The front runner here again is LPG or Liquefied Petroleum Gas.

The Taxi Shop and their partner Autogas Network Sales Ltd can supply ready converted Petrol/LPG vehicles for extremely competitive prices. In fact less than diesel equivalents. We are changing the way the ‘public’ perceive LPG.

LPG is a by-product of Natural Gas exploration and the Petrol Refining Industry. In the UK we actually export LPG as we cannot use all that we have available. Which is pretty daft with petrol and diesel hovering around £1.40 per litre even with the Chancellors 1p discount (to the current 59 p of duty!).

So we have in the UK a ready supply of inexpensive LPG. We have the technology and availability to supply bi-fuel petrol/LPG Taxis. What is missing is the understanding and the ‘miss-information’ about LPG.

The truth is that compared to the diesel engine LPG is exceptionally ‘clean’ and at least 99% more ‘environmentally friendly’. But the ‘powers that be’ only compare by CO2 levels. They don’t do the full job. If you talk to the environmental officer in any local authority, they will talk about ‘Air Quality’. But it’s the diesel engine that’s the biggest culprit here. You all know about soot and particulates – This stuff is bad. Especially in built up areas with diesel buses, taxis and cars all queuing in a congestion charging ‘nightmare’. No wonder more kids have asthma than ever before.

But there real damning stuff is what you cannot see. The Benzenes and NOx in both petrol and diesels fuels. It’s all down to the complexity of the molecules. Diesel is the most complex, LPG far far simpler. The more complex the molecule the more pollution. That’s why the Hydrogen lobby are so powerful; it’s the simplest molecule of all.

So to help your wallet AND the environment think LPG. On the face of it diesel and LPG have similar CO2 levels, but in reality LPG has none of the other pollutants. It’s the sensible choice for the next 10 years until we perfect the ‘fuel cell’. But that’s another story we can tell another time.”

Before you buy a new vehicle I urge you to look at the viability of LPG vehicles.
